UniQ Otago is the Dunedin chapter of UniQ Aotearoa. We are a queer student group based at OUSA Clubs and Societies, for all queer* tertiary students in Otago, their friends and their families.

UniQ Otago is based around a collective of ‘active’ members, members on our mailing list and those who attend our events! The UniQ Collective plan and organise queer* events, including queer dance parties and a weekly coffee meeting.

Sexual Relationships Survey

E-mail Print PDF
UMR Research is conducting a study for Relationship Services (Formerly Marriage Guidance).  They are looking for information to help increase people’s comfort with talking about sex in a way that is useful for their relationships.  The survey asks who people can comfortably talk to about sex and where they go for information if they need it.  It also asks about a range of sexual issues which people might experience in their relationships and if there are problems how they resolve them.

The 1950s

E-mail Print PDF

I am a New Zealand lesbian currently living in Scotland. I am writing a novel about a teacher in NZ in 1957 who falls in love with another woman. She also has a boy pupil aged 10 (in Standard 4) who is bullied by the other boys because he's pretty and plays with the girls. (It emerges that he probably does have sexual feelings about other boys.)

Arthur Tauhore

E-mail Print PDF

We recently received this email inquiring about Arthur Tauhore:

I'm a queer musician and writer in New York, part of a performance group called Big Art Group. Many years ago I was in Wellington and picked up a CD by a group "Trasch." I admired it very much but never knew much about the group behind it until many years later when I was able to find some information on the Internet.

I would very much like to know more about the musician Arthur Tauhore, his history, how he died, and would love to be able to find any videos or photographs of his performances. Do you by any chance have any information, or can you point me to anyone who might have know Mr. Tauhore? Thanks so much for any help you might be able to give.
